Liverpool Set To Challenge Chelsea And 2 Other Clubs For U20 World Cup Star Who Can Be Signed For Only £2.6M

Liverpool are keen on snapping up Gambian U20 international Adama Bojang, according to The Guardian reporter Ed Aarons.

The journalist claims that the Reds are expected to battle it out with Premier League rivals Chelsea, Wolves and Crystal Palace for the teenager’s signature:

Aarons believes that Bojang’s club, Steve Biko FC, would be willing to part ways with the striker for as little as €3m (£2.6m) this summer.

What do we know about Bojang?

The forward came to prominence at the Under 20 African Cup of Nations earlier this year. He helped Gambia reach the final where they lost to Senegal.

Bojang scored four goals during the competition, including a hat-trick versus South Sudan in the quarter-finals. The 19-year-old was also named in the team of the tournament.

Bojang continued to impress at the U20 World Cup

Gambia’s performance at AFCON meant they qualified for the Under 20 World Cup in Argentina, which concluded only last weekend.

Bojang was, again, in impressive form, scoring a brace in the opening group game against Honduras, playing a crucial role in the 2-1 win.

After another surprise victory versus France, they qualified for the round of 16 where they lost to eventual tournament winners Uruguay.

Bojang already has a nickname

The teenager is known as the “Gambian Hurricane” due to his pace and power, but he is still a raw talent and his strengths do need to be harnessed properly.

If Liverpool do end up winning the race for Bojang’s signature in the coming days and weeks, a loan move away from Anfield is the most likely option. He will need first team football to develop his game.
