Ben Jacobs Claims Liverpool Have “Shown Concrete Interest” In 14 Goal PL Star Who Could Be Set To “Replace” Salah

Liverpool are seriously considering whether to make a move for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

Writing for TEAMtalk, the former CBS Sports reporter revealed that the Reds have “shown concrete interest” in the Cameroon international along with two other clubs.

Mbeumo is also said to be on the radar of Tottenham and Newcastle after a standout season, where he has already scored 14 Premier League goals.

Jacobs suggests that the 25-year-old’s contract situation means that Brentford could be open to selling the player.

Although the Bees may not look to offload Mbeumo this month, they may be willing to let him leave at the end of the season.

Mbeumo is being eyed as Salah’s successor

The Reds are undoubtedly considering their options with Mo Salah having not signed a new deal. The Egyptian international could leave Anfield in a matter of months if an agreement can’t be found.

Jacobs claims that Mbeumo has been targeted to “replace” Liverpool’s top scorer and his profile makes him a good fit. First and foremost, he is left-footed, while he is the right age and possesses plenty of experience of English football. His recent scoring record is also very impressive.

Liverpool may not have much competition

Despite the interest from Spurs and Newcastle, neither team is currently in a position to make a move for Mbeumo.

The former are devoting all their resources to signing another forward; Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich, while the latter still have concerns regarding the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules. They may need to sell before they buy anyone in the summer.

Arsenal have also been suggested as a potential destination for Mbeumo in recent months, especially after the injury sustained by Bukayo Saka but it appears they are concentrating on purchasing a new No.9.
