Ex-Aston Villa and Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke does not think Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo has the quality to play for teams such as Liverpool and Arsenal.
Both sides have been credited with an interest in the forward over the past week but, speaking to SafestCasinoSites.co.uk, Yorke said that a move to a club outside of the top 4 would be more likely for the player:
“I’m not sure if Bryan Mbeumo is good enough to play for the top four, but I could see him doing well at Tottenham or maybe Newcastle.”
“I think that would be the next step for him and, if he did well at those clubs, then he makes the next step again. He probably could play for Manchester United with the kind of players we’ve got at the minute.”
Mbeumo has been in great form
Ahead of Brentford’s game against Fulham on Monday night, the 25-year-old has scored 8 goals in just 9 Premier League appearances.
Mbeumo sits joint second in the scoring charts; three behind Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, having played a game fewer than the two-time Golden Boot winner.
Liverpool could be in the market for a Salah replacement
One of the reasons why the links to Mbeumo are very credible is because he is a left-footed right winger. There are not many of those around.
The Reds could be looking for that exact profile if Mo Salah leaves Anfield at the end of the season so it is a transfer to keep a very close eye on.
Mbeumo will have just a year left on his contract next summer but Brentford do have an option to extend his stay for another year so the Bees won’t be under any pressure to sell him. A £50m asking price has been floated.
