Liverpool Have Made Enquiry For £34M Rated Italian Ace Who Was Linked To Arsenal In January

Liverpool have registered their interest in Juventus winger Federico Chiesa, according to journalist Alfredo Pedulla.

The SportItalia reporter claims that the Reds are one of three teams, along with Newcastle and Bayern Munich, who have made enquiries about the player:

Juve are believed to be open to selling Chiesa, with reports suggesting that the Euro 2020 winner will be on the market for between €40m (£34m) and €45m (£39m).

Considering the Italian international’s asking price has been more than double that in the past, it may tempt Liverpool into making a formal offer.

Arsenal have been mentioned as a possible suitor for Chiesa in recent months

When the Gunners missed out on Mykhailo Mudryk during the January transfer window, the London club were then linked with the 25-year-old as a potential alternative.

Ultimately, Mikel Arteta’s side opted to sign Brighton’s Leandro Trossard instead, so they are unlikely to enter the race for Chiesa now.

He has not been the same player since he returned from a serious knee injury

Chiesa’s form hasn’t been great since he made his comeback from an anterior cruciate ligament injury earlier this season. In 33 appearances, he scored just four times and provided six assists.

However, it takes time to recover from such a serious setback, and there is every chance that he will be back at his best next campaign. Still, Liverpool would be taking a chance on him if they do decide to pursue his signature.

Do Liverpool need Chiesa?

The winger mainly plays off the left flank, which is not exactly a position that the Reds are short of options in. Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez have all been deployed there by manager Jurgen Klopp.

With that being the case, you can’t see Chiesa being a priority target for the Reds this summer.
