Liverpool ‘Ready’ To Make Offer For 18 Year Old Defender Who They’ve Scouted ‘Several Times’ In Recent Months

Liverpool are “ready” to table a bid for Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Italian website claim that the Reds have sent scouts to watch the 18-year-old in action “several times” over the past few months and it appears they were impressed with what they saw.

Dorgu has not actually played a senior game yet, having featured for Lecce’s Primavera (Under 19) team. However, he did have a very impressive season as his side won the league.

The defender only moved to Italy from his native Denmark last year, making the switch from FC Nordsjaelland where he came through the youth ranks.

Dorgu is also a Danish Under 19 international, having impressed for his country in their European Under 19 qualifiers. He scored a goal and provided an assist in the 6-1 win over Montenegro back in September, while he got on the scoresheet again in the 2-1 victory against Ukraine in March.

Liverpool are unlikely to be targeting Dorgu for the first team

Considering his lack of experience at senior level, it’s clear that the Reds would be looking to sign the fullback for the Under 23 side or perhaps even loan him out so he can continue his development.

It is not known whether the Merseyside club will have competition for Dorgu’s signature, although that is pretty likely considering the teenager’s form last campaign.

Are the Reds looking to recruit any other young players?

It was reported last month that the club were set to sign Harvey Owen from Wolves. The defender is only 14 years of age but he is so highly rated that Liverpool are prepared to pay as much as £800,000 to secure his services.

Whether Dorgu will cost as much, we shall have to wait and see. His value on Transfermarkt is already €400,000 so he would probably cost, at least, six figures.
