REPORT: Liverpool Have ‘Contacted’ The Agent Of £60M Rated England Ace ‘This Week’

Liverpool have been in touch with the representatives of Eberechi Eze, according to The Palace Way.

The website claims that the Crystal Palace star’s agent was “contacted” by the Reds “this week”, but it remains to be seen whether they will formalise their interest in the player.

Eze reportedly has a £60m release clause in his contract but the 25-year-old does have plenty of other teams pursuing his signature.

The Palace Way report that Manchester City and Tottenham are also keen on the attacking midfielder, while other sources have added Arsenal’s name into the mix.

What do fans need to know about Eze?

The 25-year-old actually came through Arsenal’s academy but he was let go at a young age. He was then picked up by Millwall before making his first-team breakthrough at Queens Park Rangers.

Palace paid £17m to sign Eze from QPR in the summer of 2020, and he has spent the last three seasons at Selhurst Park.

Why do Liverpool want to sign the midfielder?

Eze likes to play as a no.10, but he can also be deployed on either flank. New manager Arne Slot does prefer to play a 4-2-3-1 system, so the England international could be signed to play in behind the striker.

It would be a surprise addition to the squad, though, as it isn’t really an area of the pitch that needs to be strengthened. The likes of Dominik Szoboszlai, Harvey Elliott, Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister can all play in advanced midfield positions if required.

Liverpool are rumoured to be on the lookout for a wide forward but you wouldn’t have thought that Eze would be the club’s top target for that position. It is definitely a transfer story to keep an eye on over the coming days.
