As Romano mentions, Chiesa is expected to fly in for a medical today (Wednesday 28th August) so it looks as though this move will be wrapped up pretty quickly.
Why is Chiesa available for such a low price?
The 26-year-old has less than twelve months left on his contract and Juve were keen to sell him now so he doesn’t leave on a free transfer next year. He wasn’t part of manager Thiago Motta’s first-team plans either, having not even made the matchday squad for the Bianconeri’s first two league fixtures against Como and Verona.
There are some serious concerns about Chiesa’s fitness too. Although he did stay fit for most of last season, he has spent 455 days on the sidelines since moving to Turin in 2020, picking up NINETEEN separate injuries.
Liverpool have just made their first signing of the summer transfer window
It was confirmed yesterday that the Reds have snapped up Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili for a fee that could rise to £30m.
However, the Georgian international won’t link up with his new club straight away. He is set to remain in Spain until next year, with the keeper only scheduled to arrive at Anfield for the start of the 2025/26 season.
