Liverpool are “keen” on signing Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz, according to reports.
The Daily Mail claim that the Reds have joined Manchester City and Real Madrid in pursuing the German international.
Wirtz is believed to be available for €150m (£124m) and many supporters on X are questioning whether he would be a viable target:
This is too good to be true, life isn’t allowed to be this good for us.

Do Liverpool need Wirtz?
Some may question the club’s interest in recruiting the forward, considering the wealth of options that head coach Arne Slot currently has at his disposal.
However, it should be pointed out that the Reds could still lose Mo Salah at the end of the season. If the Egyptian were to depart, the club’s board would need a signing to placate fans.
Wirtz can be deployed right across the front three and, while he would not be a like-for-like alternative, he could (at the very least) replace some of the goals and assists they would lose if Salah leaves.
Competition for Wirtz is high
As mentioned already, there are at least two other teams pursuing the 21-year-old. Real are not in desperate need of another playmaker, so the main threat is likely to be Manchester City and (potentially) Bayern Munich and Arsenal, who have also been linked in recent months.
In addition to rival clubs, the €150m asking price is rather steep so Liverpool have an uphill task if they do want to snap up Wirtz this summer.
