Potential Salah Replacement Reveals Whether He Is Interested In Summer Switch To Liverpool

Juventus winger Francisco Conceicao has played down the chances of a move to Liverpool at the end of the season.

Reliable journalist Fabrice Hawkins named the Portuguese international as one of four options that the Reds are considering to replace Mo Salah.

When Conceicao was asked directly about the speculation, the forward made it clear that he was not seeking to leave Juve:

“I know there are rumours about a big club, but I’m already at a big club and I’m happy. Just got to keep working and keep getting goals and assists.”

Conceicao is not Liverpool’s top target

Considering that the 23-year-old has only scored 4 goals and contributed 3 assists this season, it is hard to see how he would have filled the boots of Salah anyway.

There is a chance that sporting director Richard Hughes was considering Conceicao as a potential squad option, but you’d think that a more prolific forward would be targeted.

Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise, Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola and RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande all seem much better equipped to make up for the loss of Salah.

Liverpool may decide against replacing Salah

The Athletic claim that the Reds’ recruitment team might not even pursue a “marquee name” in their quest to find a suitable replacement for the Egyptian King.

That is believed to be a likely scenario if the decision is made to move away from 4-3-3 to a 4-2-2-2 system.

There are suggestions that Alexander Isak will be partnered with Hugo Ekitike next season, with Florian Wirtz and Dominik Szoboszlai playing behind them.

That would negate the need for out-and-out wingers entirely, but such a drastic change of formation won’t come without risk. Whichever direction the club choose to go in, it is going to be interesting to see how they cope with the departure of Salah.
