Liverpool are among the teams weighing up whether to trigger Goncalo Inacio’s release clause, according to O Jogo.
The Reds (along with Arsenal and Newcastle) were linked with the 21-year-old earlier this week in the Spanish Press and O’Jogo say Jurgen Klopp’s side could “easily” pay €45m (£38.6m) needed to buy the Sporting Lisbon player.
Supporters on Twitter are excited by the prospect of the club signing Inacio, who they believe is up there with the best young defenders in Europe:
He is the real deal

Rated as one of the best young left footed CB in Europe. Genuine mainstay for the Portugal national team easily for the next 15 years. Get him in.

AMA – Szoboszlai – Lavia – Inacio would be a 10/10 window for me. Satisfies HG criteria. Thuram would be great but wouldn’t have a non-HG spot for him.

Inacio is a player in demand
It will be interesting to see what happens to the Portuguese international this summer. The buyout clause is pretty low and, if Sporting can’t get him to agree to a contract extension, many clubs will seriously be considering making an offer.
Liverpool are in the market for a defender and you have to say Inacio ticks a lot of boxes, including the fact that he is young and left-footed.
Romano has confirmed that Liverpool want a player of Inacio’s profile
On his ‘Here We Go’ podcast, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano made it clear that the Reds are after someone like Inacio, but a move may only happen nearly the end of the summer:
“In the second part of this market, I think they will look at the centre-backs market, a left-footed centre-back.”
We shall have to wait and see whether the Merseyside club do decide to pay Inacio’s release fee.
