“Medical To Take Place” – Sky Reporter Confirms Liverpool Are About To Make Their 6th Summer Signing

Liverpool have agreed a fee with Eintracht Frankfurt for striker Hugo Ekitike, according to reports.

Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg claims that Arne Slot’s side will pay €95m (£82m), including bonuses, for the 22-year-old with a “medical to take place soon”.

Frankfurt were in negotiations with Newcastle to sell Ekitike, but the Magpies withdrew from talks once it became clear that he wanted to make the move to Anfield instead.

Manchester United are said to have made a last-ditch attempt to purchase the Frenchman as well, although their interest was also reportedly rebuffed.

Liverpool have signed 5 players this summer

The Reds have already brought in the likes of Bayer Leverkusen pair Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong, Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez, Puskas AFC’s Armin Pecsi and Preston’s Freddie Woodman since the transfer window reopened last month.

Giorgi Mamardashvili has also arrived from Valencia, but that deal was finalised last summer, and the Georgian international had effectively been out on loan since the start of the 2024/25 campaign.

Ekitike will, therefore, be the Merseyside club’s sixth summer addition, taking the Premier League champions’ spending to an eyewatering £270m.

A striker could depart Anfield

While Ekitike is set to arrive in England over the coming days, another forward could well be heading out the door. Despite scoring a hat-trick during a 5-0 win over Stoke City in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Sunday, Darwin Nunez is expected to be sold.

At the moment, there are no concrete bids for the Uruguayan international, with Napoli having formally withdrawn from talks, but another Italian club, AC Milan, are likely to enter the race for the player, while an approach from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal is also anticipated.
