Romano Reveals Liverpool Are Among Several PL Clubs “Following” Bundesliga Ace Who Is “Worth More Than €100M”

Liverpool are keeping tabs on Jamal Musiala’s situation at Bayern Munich, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Writing in his column for the Daily Briefing Substack, the journalist claims that the Reds, Chelsea, Manchester City and a number of other clubs are interested in signing the German international:

“Liverpool have been linked with Musiala, but trust me it would not just be Liverpool, there are many important clubs around Europe keeping an eye on Musiala. Jurgen Klopp knows the player’s talent very well, but also people at Chelsea, Manchester City, and clubs in Spain, because he’s one of the best young talents in world football.”

“So this is normal, it’s not about negotiating, it’s just about following a top young player. In my personal opinion, he’s worth more than €100m; I’d compare him to Jude Bellingham – a generational talent.”

Musiala’s contract situation has raised questions about his future at Bayern

The 20-year-old’s contract at the Allianz Arena is set to expire in 2026, but negotiations were underway over an extension.

Talks with Musiala and his representatives have, though, recently stalled, following a change in senior management at Bayern. While it is still expected that the Bundesliga champions will re-enter discussions, it does give other clubs an opportunity to make a play for the midfielder.

Would Liverpool have the funds to buy Musiala?

Even if the former Chelsea academy graduate does become available, there is still a question over whether Jurgen Klopp’s side can afford him.

From Romano’s remarks, it seems the Reds would have to break their transfer record to get the German. After tabling a £110m bid for Moises Caicedo last summer, you can’t completely rule out a similar offer for another player in the future, so the Musiala links should not be dismissed out of hand.
