‘That’s More Like It. Go And Get Him’ ‘No Better Than Endo’ Fans React As Liverpool Eye Move For 23 Year Old

Liverpool are interested in Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

Speaking on Playback, Jacobs said that the 23-year-old is someone that the club really like, along with Benfica’s Joao Neves.

It remains to be seen whether this means the Reds will actively pursue Gomes, but it hasn’t stopped supporters on X from debating whether the player would be a good addition to the squad:

Gomes’s price tag would probably put off Liverpool

When the Brazilian international was linked with Manchester United and Arsenal earlier this year, it was reported that Wolves would hold out for as much as £60m.

That’s a massive sum for a player who isn’t really much more than a destructive presence in midfield. He picked up 11 yellow cards in the Premier League last season.

Are other midfielders being targeted?

It is believed that the Reds did contact the representatives of Atalanta’s Ederson a few weeks ago but the Merseysiders’ interest in the player didn’t advance any further than that.

Juventus’s Adrien Rabiot and Feyenoord’s Quinten Timber have also been mentioned as potential targets but, for the most part, the club have been linked with centre-backs and wingers.

While fans would be keen on a new No.6 being brought in, it doesn’t appear to be a priority for the recruitment department at the moment.
