“A Good Fit” – Emile Heskey Backs Liverpool To Snap Up 17 Goal Forward On Free Transfer Ahead Of PL Rivals

Ex-Liverpool striker Emile Heskey thinks his former club should consider signing Lille’s Jonathan David.

The Canadian international will play against the Reds on Tuesday evening and, speaking to Casino Scout, Heskey said David could be a good addition to Arne Slot’s squad:

“Lille’s Jonathan David has been linked with Liverpool and I could see him being a good fit up top, so we’ll have to see what kind of performance he’ll put in in tonight’s game.”

“If were the recruitment team as Liverpool, I’d definitely be bringing in a young striker, someone who has scope to grow as a player within the club.”

“You never know whether young players will take a bit of time to settle, or if they’ll hit the ground running like Erling Haaland did at Manchester City. I don’t think Liverpool need to look at anyone in their ‘prime’.”

David is expected to become a free agent this summer

The 24-year-old’s contract at Lille expires at the end of June and he is not expected to sign an extension.

There is likely to be a scramble to secure David’s signature, who has scored 17 goals in 30 appearances so far this campaign.

Liverpool are not among the favourites to snap up the forward

Although Heskey has tipped the Reds to make a move for the Canadian, several other Premier League teams are said to be more likely to sign him at the moment. Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Villa and Newcastle have all been mentioned as potential suitors.

Liverpool’s interest may depend on the future of Darwin Nunez. The Uruguayan did get a vital brace against Brentford at the weekend but he has struggled to score consistently this season. If the club’s hierarchy do decide to dispense with the player’s services, David could be on the shortlist of potential replacements.
