Liverpool and Chelsea are considering signing Jorrel Hato if they lose out on Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Speaking on the ‘Here We Go’ podcast, Romano confirmed that the Ajax centre-back is a top target for both teams:
“Chelsea and other clubs are waiting for Dean Huijsen’s decision. Chelsea and Liverpool also have Jorrel Hato on their list if they don’t get Huijsen.”
Reds supporters on X agree Hato would be a great addition to the squad if the Merseysiders do decide to make a move for him this summer:
Would love him instead of Huijsen imo

Monitor FC strikes again😂
On a serious note, he can cover LB and CB, so if by a miracle both Kerkez and Huijsen dont work out, he is there

Hato can play in multiple positions
The 19-year-old has actually played most of his football at left-back this season and some reports have even suggested that he could replace Andy Robertson.
However, most observers believe Hato’s attributes are better suited to playing as a centre-half in the long term. There are some who even believe he could succeed Virgil van Dijk.
Liverpool have serious competition for Huijsen
As Romano mentions, Arne Slot’s side are currently prioritising a move for the Bournemouth star over Hato. The Spanish international has a £50m release clause in his contract.
Chelsea are not the only rival involved in the battle for Huijsen’s signature. Reports suggest that Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle want the player as well.
