Report Reveals Liverpool Still Want To Sign Player Described As “Very Dangerous” By Ex-Arsenal Star

Liverpool have retained an interest in Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram, according to TuttoJuve.com.

The Italian website claims manager Jurgen Klopp is “looking” for a player with strong “physical characteristics” and Thuram would “fit perfectly” into his system.

However, Serie A side Juventus are also now keen on securing the Frenchman’s services, although the Bianconeri may find it hard to match his €25m (£21.6m) to €30m (£26m) asking price.

It’s probably wise to take this report from TuttoJuve with a large pinch of salt. Back in the summer, it was claimed that Nice wanted €50m (£43m) for Thuram so it would be surprising if his valuation has dropped that much in the space of a couple of months.

There is no doubting the fact that Liverpool could do with a midfielder with Thuram’s profile but, whether he remains a genuine target, we shall have to wait and see.

Thuram has been praised by his former teammate

Prior to leaving Nice at the end of last season, former Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey (who spent a year playing alongside Thuram), tipped the 22-year-old to go “all the way to the top”:

“Khephren is another talented player here. I think he’s definitely got a big future ahead of him if he carries on the way he’s going at the minute.”

“He’s very dangerous, very powerful, a very strong dribbler of the ball. Hopefully, he can keep progressing. He’s another player that can go all the way to the top I feel.”

Liverpool will be keeping an eye on Thuram’s form

The France international has been instrumental to Nice’s unbeaten start to the season, which sees them sitting 2nd in the table after 8 games played.

Thuram has missed 1 game due to a thigh injury but he has started the Ligue One team’s 7 other matches so far this campaign. The Reds will surely be keeping tabs on his progress.
