Father Of £67M Rated Liverpool Target Praises “Extraordinary” Salah But Transfer To Anfield In Doubt

The father of Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia believes it is a massive compliment that his son has been compared to Liverpool star Mo Salah.

Badri Kvaratskhelia says the Egyptian international is a wonderful talent and he is delighted that some see similarities between the pair:

“It’s a wonderful comparison because Salah is a great footballer who has done extraordinary things with Liverpool and Egypt, but we like Khvicha more.”

“Many say that he’s the strongest, for me, he is because I’m the father, but hearing it from others fills me with pride.”

Liverpool are keeping tabs on Kvaratskhelia

It was reported last week that the Reds are monitoring the Georgian international’s situation at Napoli.

Talks over a contract extension have collapsed and he has been heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain in recent days.

In addition to Liverpool, the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea have also been credited with an interest in the forward but PSG are currently regarded as strong favourites for his signature.

No approach has been made for the winger

Writing in his column for GiveMeSport, respected journalist Fabrizio Romano said that Arne Slot’s side have “not submitted any proposal or even approached Napoli or Kvaratkhelia’s agent”.

In contrast, PSG are believed to have agreed personal terms with the 23-year-old, and they are now lining up a formal bid.

Napoli are thought to be holding out for around €80m (£67m) so it remains to be seen whether the Ligue One champions will meet the asking price. If the move stalls, it will be interesting to see whether Liverpool will step in and make an offer of their own. For now, it seems no concrete steps have been made by the Merseyside club.
