Liverpool and Barcelona are both “interested” in Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, according to journalist Bacho Tsalugelashvili.
The Georgian reporter was speaking on 1 Station Radio programme 1 Football Night (quotes via Anfield Watch) when he revealed that the Reds are keen on the 23-year-old, along with Barca:
“Liverpool is also interested in Kvaratskhelia, even if Barcelona’s interest is more concrete. There are management sources who confirm the Blaugrana’s desire.”
Fans on X are rather sceptical about the claim, especially considering that Kvaratskhelia could cost as much as €120m/£103m:
Never in a million years will we spend £120M on a single player

I think, he will be a good signing but the truth is I don’t see Liverpool getting him.

Basically has the same stats as Diaz output wise. Dont think he’s woth the money. If we could get him for the price we get for selling Diaz then maybe but most likely we’d have to pay significantly more for Kvara than we get for Lucho.

120M for a downgrade? Smart lol

Kvaratskhelia’s form since last year has dipped
There was a lot of hype about the Georgian international following his performances last season. He scored 14 goals and provided 17 assists in 43 appearances for Napoli.
Kvaratskhelia has been slightly less effective this campaign, having racked up 10 goals and only 8 assists in almost the exact same number of matches. It, therefore, seems unlikely that Liverpool are prepared to splash out nine figures on him.
Liverpool could have competition from other Premier League teams
It should be noted that other English clubs have been linked with Kvaratskhelia in recent months, including Manchester City, Newcastle and even Chelsea.
Those teams are probably more likely to compete with the Reds for the forward‘s signature than Barcelona, considering the La Liga club’s rather precarious financial situation.
