Liverpool have considered making a move for Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman, according to Sky Germany reporter Kerry Hau.
Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal have agreed a fee with Bayern for the France international but, writing on his X account, Hau said that several European teams have also made “enquiries”, with Liverpool the latest to register their interest.
Coman is still hoping to stay in Europe, but he may end up making the switch to the Middle East if a concrete approach from another club doesn’t arrive before the transfer deadline later this week.
Barcelona and Arsenal have also been linked with the 28-year-old in recent weeks, in addition to Liverpool and Al-Hilal.
Coman is not the Reds’ top priority
Hau goes on to state that the Merseyside club’s main focus is recruiting Federico Chiesa from Juventus. The Italian international is in the final year of his contract and he could be available for as little as €15m (£12.7m).
Chiesa is believed to be open to joining Liverpool, but there are reports suggesting that he is still waiting to see whether Barca make a bid for him.
Why are Liverpool pursuing Chiesa and Coman?
Arne Slot’s side have been keen on bringing in a winger all summer. They failed to secure the signature of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle back in June and it appears as if they have fallen back on cheaper options.
Chiesa and Coman have pretty woeful injury records but they are both available for very reasonable prices. It looks like the Reds’ recruitment team see Chiesa as a low-risk deal.
However, his high wages and poor fitness mean signing Chiesa could backfire, especially if he spends most of his time at the club on the treatment table.
