Liverpool are keeping close tabs on Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman, according to Bild reporter Christian Falk.
The France international could be sold by Bayern to raise funds this summer and Falk says the Reds are weighing up whether to make a move for the player:
“Coman is on the shortlist. It’s not to the point where there are negotiations or offers yet, but they’re monitoring his situation, especially after he’s Bayern’s number one sales candidate. Not because they don’t appreciate him, but because they can see him bringing in money.”
There are concerns about Coman’s injury record, and while Falk acknowledges that could be an issue, he thinks the upsides of recruiting the 28-year-old outweigh the downsides.
“Yes, of course that’s one of the considerations, but of course, with his high speed, he would fit in really well. He comes in on the left, but he can actually play all of them. So that would be interesting for the team.”
Liverpool are not the only club interested in the forward
It was reported by Falk’s publication Bild last month that Arsenal are also considering whether to sign Coman at the end of the season.
The Gunners are keen on strengthening their options on the left flank. Raheem Sterling is set to return to Chelsea once his loan spell comes to an end and more competition is needed for Gabriel Martinelli.
Talks have been held with Nico Williams but Coman would likely be a cheaper option; a factor that has probably attracted Liverpool as well.
How much would Coman cost?
It is believed that Bayern will only demand around £30m for the Frenchman. Even at that price, though, Arne Slot’s side will still have to contemplate whether he is worth the gamble considering his fitness record.
Over the course of Coman’s professional career, he has picked up an astonishing 49 separate injuries, although he has stayed on the pitch, for the most part, this campaign with just two spells out with minor knocks.
