“I Need To Make A Decision” – Chelsea Star Drops Transfer Hint As Liverpool Circle

Liverpool transfer target Levi Colwill has hinted that he still hasn’t made a final decision on where he will be playing his football next season.

The Chelsea defender spent last campaign out on loan at Brighton and he says that, to realise his ambitions of being capped by England, he needs to be playing regularly, whether that is at Stamford Bridge or somewhere else:

“We’re all pushing and knocking on the door. Everyone has to pay attention to every player here [in the England U21 setup]. I feel like this team we had was more than just individuals. In the past, England might have lacked that. We’ve always had great players but I think this team is so much different. I love this team.”

“I’ll speak to my family, speak to everyone I need to make a decision. I’ve got to play at the end of the day, to hopefully get there and go to the next [England senior team] camp. But if I’m here [with the Under 21s], I’ll still be happy. You’ve always got to be happy when you’re picked for any England age group. It’s an honour.”

Liverpool have contacted Colwill’s agents

Reports suggest that the Reds have been in touch with the 20-year-old’s representatives to ascertain whether the player would be interested in a move to Anfield.

The Merseyside club are believed to be very keen on signing a left-sided centre-back this summer and Colwill is one of their top targets.

A transfer does seem unlikely

While Liverpool appear to be keen on doing a deal, Chelsea are not. The Blues are adamant that the centre-back is not for sale and they have already offered the player a new contract.

As Colwill says himself, though, a lot will depend on what guarantees he gets from his manager Mauricio Pochettino about game time. If he doesn’t get the assurances he needs, he may press for a transfer away. Currently, though, there is no suggestion that will happen.
