Liverpool are among the Premier League clubs interested in signing Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, according to reports.
The Daily Mail claim that the Reds have joined Manchester United, Newcastle, Chelsea and Manchester City in the race to secure the 22-year-old’s services.
There is believed to be a £40m release clause in Delap’s contract but even at that price, most fans on X are not enthused about the idea of the forward making the move to Anfield this summer:
BIG NO!!!!

Rickie Lambert 2.0. We've been there and it wasn't good for us.

If we replace Nunez with him, we’ll end up appreciating Nunez more because this is a downgrade

I can’t believe there are people on this thread who think Liam Delap is the answer to our centre forward issue… I’ve seen him play a few times this season, including at Anfield. He is an absolute carthorse!!! As a few have said… Rickie Lambert Mk 2.

Delap has been described as a “monster” by his teammate
The England Under 21 international has earned plaudits from fans and pundits alike this campaign.
Delap has also received praise from Ipswich teammate Alex Palmer who described him as a “monster” after he scored in the 1-1 draw against Aston Villa back in February.
Liverpool are looking at several different strikers
It does look like sporting director Richard Hughes is gearing up to sign a No.9 during the summer transfer window.
In addition to Delap, the Merseysiders have been linked with the likes of Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike.
All would cost a great deal more than Delap so it remains to be seen if the club push the boat out to invest in a new striker or whether they are content in bringing in someone with potential who may or may not become a top player in the future.
