Bayern Munich’s ‘Preferred’ Target Is Confirmed As Bundesliga Giants Weigh Up Bids For Liverpool And Arsenal Stars

Bayern Munich have made signing Liverpool forward Luis Diaz their top priority, according to reports in the German media.

Kicker magazine claim that the Bundesliga champions have also considered moves for the likes of Real Madrid’s Rodrygo and Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard.

However, they have already discounted a move for Rodrygo, in particular, because he has played most of his minutes for Real on the right.

Diaz, in contrast, has been a regular starter on the left wing for Liverpool and he can cover at centre-forward if required, and those factors have made him the “preferred candidate.”

Will Bayern return with a second bid for Diaz?

Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has already stated a “new offer” is in the works. The opening proposal of €67.5m (£58m) was, however, considerably below Liverpool’s asking price for the Colombian international.

It is believed that the Reds will only contemplate offloading Diaz if they receive an offer close to £80m. At the moment, it seems Bayern are very unlikely to get close to that valuation.

Do Liverpool have a replacement lined up?

With Diaz seemingly keen on leaving Anfield, you would expect that sporting director Richard Hughes has done his due diligence on potential replacements if they do end up letting the player go.

Rodrygo has actually been mentioned as a possible option, although most of the rumours about the Reds’ interest in the Brazilian have come from Spain. He would not be a cheap addition, with Real said to be demanding between €90m (£78m) and €100m (£86m).

Lyon’s Malick Fofana may also come under consideration. Credible reports from France suggest conversations have been held with the Belgian’s agents in recent weeks.
