Liverpool transfer target Marc Guehi is “interested” in moving to the Merseyside club, according to reports.

It was confirmed on Thursday that the Reds are keen on signing the Crystal Palace defender, who has only a year left on his contract.

The i Paper have backed those claims and they have also provided an insight into Guehi’s stance on joining the Premier League champions.

The likes of Tottenham, Newcastle, Arsenal and former club Chelsea are also said to have considered purchasing the 24-year-old, but at the moment, it looks as if Arne Slot’s side are the closest to making a bid.

Quansah’s departure is crucial

It is believed that an approach for Guehi would only be made if Jarell Quansah joined Bayer Leverkusen. That appears to be almost guaranteed to happen, with a fee in excess of £30m having been agreed.

The 22-year-old’s exit will leave a vacancy for another centre-back and the proceeds from his move to Germany will be invested in bringing in a replacement.

There are still question marks over how much Palace will want for Guehi. The i Paper report that the Eagles are prepared to sell the England international but Liverpool won’t pay an excessive fee for a player who will be available on a free next year.

Following Jeremie Frimpong and Fabian Wirtz’s arrival on Merseyside, Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez is expected to follow suit over the coming days.

The Reds are set to pay a fee in the region of £40m for the Hungarian international, with a medical expected to take place on Tuesday.

A move for Kerkez has been in the works for quite some time but it is believed Bournemouth wanted to sign a replacement first. The Cherries snapped up Adrien Truffert from Rennes earlier this week.
