Liverpool supporters have been pondering potential replacements for Joel Matip, who is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after sustaining an ACL injury.
With the Reds having already considered strengthening the middle of defence last summer, there is a strong possibility that the club will go into the market for a centre-half in January.
A number of names have been suggested as options but, when Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi was mentioned, it led to plenty of debate among fans on X:
I think guehi is a brilliant player being honest but I think if liverpool are going to sign cbs then they ahve to be of an elite level like klopp said today to sign a cb for Liverpool it had to be a top top player they have to be better than what we have or similar level

He's good but I'd appreciate someone better than him at

Up to Klopp but he comes with PL experience and at the right price I'm sure Klopp would be interested. I think we need another body after Matip's season ending injury.

But how much wll crystal palace want? And will they let him leave in January?

Guehi would be an expensive purchase
Due to his age and the fact that he is homegrown, Liverpool would have to splash the cash if they wanted to sign the 23-year-old.
Over the last few months, it has been reported that Palace may demand as much as £60m for Guehi, which may put off Jurgen Klopp‘s side from making an approach.
Liverpool would face fierce competition for the defender
Manchester United have been heavily linked with Guehi in recent weeks, while Arsenal and Tottenham have been tracking the England international as well.
There have also been claims that the centre-back’s former team Chelsea could enter the running for his signature if he does become available.
