‘He’d Be Great For Us’ ‘Quality Player But Doesn’t Fit’ Fans Debate Whether Liverpool Should Trigger Star’s £62.5M Clause

Liverpool are expected to be in the market for a new forward this summer, with Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz both tipped for moves away from Anfield.

Wolves’ Matheus Cunha has had a good season, barring some disciplinary problems. He has scored 15 goals and he has been tipped to leave Molineux. Speaking about his future at the weekend, Cunha said he is open to a new challenge:

“I’ve made it clear that I need to take the next step. I want to fight for titles, for big things. I have potential.”

Cunha does have a £62.5m release clause in his contract and Reds supporters on X have been discussing whether the Merseyside club should consider recruiting him:

Cunha has attracted the attention of several teams

Nottingham Forest are believed to be plotting an ambitious move to sign the Brazilian, while the likes of Arsenal, Aston Villa and Manchester United have been linked with buying him in previous transfer windows.

The buyout clause is likely to encourage someone into making a move for Cunha. Whether Liverpool would be tempted, though, it is up for debate.

At the moment, Cunha’s name doesn’t appear to be on the radar of the club’s recruitment team. Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, on the other hand, is said to be high on the list.

In addition to the Swedish international, the Reds have also been keeping tabs on Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez. However, neither player would be available on the cheap.
