Liverpool have cooled their interest in Leeds forward Crysencio Summerville, according to Leeds Live.
The website claims that that the Reds have “ended their interest” in the Dutchman with the Merseyside club having now prioritised a move for Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise.
It is even suggested that Summerville could end up playing for the Eagles next season, with some of the proceeds from Olise’s sale being used to buy the winger from Leeds.
Whether there is any truth to these reports, though, it remains to be seen. Olise will cost almost double the price of Summerville and there is a lot of competition for his signature.
Which clubs are pursuing Olise?
It has been reported that both Chelsea and Manchester United have already held discussions with the 22-year-old’s representatives, giving them a head start in negotiations.
However, respected sources have claimed that Olise would prefer to make a move to a team playing Champions League football. That means Liverpool could have the edge over their rivals.
In terms of the transfer fee, the figure has already been set. The forward signed a contract last year which included a £60m release clause that the Reds would have to trigger to secure his services.
Liverpool may have some concerns about the player’s injury record
It won’t have escaped the notice of the Reds’ recruitment team that Olise has struggled to stay fit over the last twelve months.
Hamstring problems have plagued him, meaning he has missed a total of 21 matches since the beginning of last season. The winger played 19 games in total for Palace.
When Olise has been available, though, he has looked very impressive, having finished the campaign with 10 league goals and 6 assists. Signing him would be a calculated gamble, but he clearly possesses the talent.
