Liverpool are “interested” in signing Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise, according to Bild reporter Christian Falk.

Speaking to his website Cfbayerninsider.com, Falk confirmed reports that the Reds and Manchester City are keen on purchasing the France international, but he denies that the player has a release clause in his contract:

“It is true: Premier League clubs have Michael Olise on their radar. The Frenchman is currently in top form. PSG are interested in Olise, and as a Frenchman, he would fit perfectly into the Ligue 1 outfit’s philosophy. But in England, too, there is annoyance that the player was not kept in the Premier League. Only Newcastle made a serious effort, but lost the poker game against Bayern Munich.”

“Now, bigger clubs like Liverpool and Manchester City are also interested in Michael Olise. However, FC Bayern will not accept any offers. Good news for Bayern: the rumours about an exit clause in Olise’s contract are not true.”

Olise has been described as a “special talent”

The forward had an outstanding debut campaign with Bayern, scoring 20 times and contributing 23 assists in 55 appearances.

Just a month into the season, his manager Vincent Kompany was already describing Olise as a “special talent.” The Bundesliga champions are unlikely to give him up without a fight.

Liverpool see him as a perfect replacement for Salah

Mohamed Salah’s contract with the Merseysiders expires at the end of next season, so it would not be a surprise if Olise is being lined up as the Egyptian’s successor.

He is left-footed and prefers to play from the right flank. Furthermore, the wide man only turns 24 in December, so he would be in his prime by the time the Reds would likely make a move for him. It is a transfer to keep a close eye on.
