Hungary head coach Marco Rossi has confirmed that “top” Premier League teams are interested in signing Liverpool target Milos Kerkez.
The Bournemouth defender impressed against the Reds on Saturday despite the Cherries losing 2-0 at home. Speaking to sports news outlet CSAKFOCI, Rossi revealed that clubs are “following” Kerkez and there is a chance that he could secure a transfer either this month or in the summer:
“As for Milos, he is playing very well, nobody predicted that Bournemouth would be in this position in the league. The English top teams are following him closely, it is also possible that he will change, if not now, then at the end of the season.
“He is a very important player for us, we hope that he will succeed in developing in the national team, as he does in his club.”
Kerkez’s price tag is pretty steep
It is believed that Bournemouth may demand as much as £50m for the left-back, which is not a surprise considering the number of teams interested in securing his services.
In addition to Liverpool, the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea have all been mentioned as potential suitors in recent months.
Slot has confirmed that Liverpool are planning for the summer
While a bid for Kerkez or any other player is unlikely to be tabled before the transfer window closes on Monday night, the club is likely to be busy with transfers at the end of the season.
Speaking to the BBC, head coach Arne Slot made it clear that sporting director Richard Hughes and the recruitment team are working hard on bringing in new signings:
“I know people sometimes question this because they haven’t seen us doing a lot in the transfer market in the summer and now in the winter as well. There’s a reason for that – because we’re happy with the squad. But I do know we’re definitely working on strengthening in the summer.”
