“You Can See Why” – Glen Johnson Delivers Glowing Verdict As Liverpool Close In On £40M Transfer – Exclusive

Former Liverpool defender Glen Johnson says prospective summer signing Milos Kerkez is a “very, very good” player.

The Reds are believed to have stepped up their interest in the Hungarian international, and speaking exclusively to Walkon.com (courtesy of Betano), Johnson suggested that the defender would be a good fit for Arne Slot’s side:

“He’s looked very, very good, but obviously, not been around too long, but super young, but, yeah, a player that likes to get forward, and you know, that’s what you’re going to need to play for Liverpool. You’re going to have the ball most of the time so you can see why they’ve got their eyes on him, for sure.”

“And I think it’s always good that young players can perform well so early in a team that are actually doing well because Bournemouth – they have not won in the last four so, if they had, they could be sat in fifth if they had only won one or two more games so it’s credit to them for where they are in the league, and the fact that he’s doing what he’s doing in a team doing well is credit to them both.”

Liverpool have made contact with Bournemouth

It has been reported in recent days that the Merseysiders have been in touch with Kerkez’s club about signing the Hungarian international.

The likes of Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United and Real Madrid have also been circling the fullback and the Reds are keen to get ahead of the competition by making an early move to secure his signature.

How much will Kerkez cost?

Bournemouth signed the left-back for £15.5m from AZ Alkmaar at the start of last season, and the Cherries are now said to be demanding at least £40m from interested teams.

That seems like a reasonable figure for someone like Kerkez who is both Premier League proven and is still only 21 years of age.
