Ex-Arsenal striker Ian Wright believes that Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez will join Liverpool at the end of the season.
There has been plenty of speculation linking the Hungarian international with a move to Anfield and Wright says he thinks that a deal may have already been agreed:
“I think Kerkez, that’s probably done, for me. The amount of talk we’ve been doing for so long, that’s probably done, which is a shame (for Bournemouth).”
Kerkez’s asking price is said to be £45m so it remains to be seen if the Reds are prepared to pay that much for the defender.
Kerkez does have other suitors in the Premier League
Manchester City have been mentioned as possible suitors for the 21-year-old in recent weeks but Pep Guardiola’s side are said to be more interested in buying Juventus’s Andrea Cambiaso instead.
Kerkez has had an outstanding season. Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher described the fullback as a “revelation” at the end of last year, so you can’t rule out other teams getting involved in the battle for his signature, but Arne Slot’s side do appear to be strong favourites to snap him up at the moment.
Liverpool have considered alternatives
The club’s recruitment department are believed to have looked at several different replacements for Andy Robertson, who is in the twilight of his career.
Wolves’ Rayan Ait-Nouri is a player who has been on the club’s radar for quite some time but reports indicate that the Algerian international is further down the list than Kerkez.
Cambiaso has also been suggested as a potential option, while Ajax’s Jorrel Hato is known to have his fans among Liverpool’s scouts. However, many feel that the Dutch teenager is best suited to being a centre-back in the long term.
