Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal want to sign Liverpool attacker Mo Salah ahead of the Club World Cup in June.
Salah scored during Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Brighton at the weekend in the 72nd minute which turned out to be the winning goal at Anfield.
It didn’t just hand the Reds the lead, but also the top spot in the Premier League table after Manchester City lost 2-1 to in form Bournemouth.
However, reports from TalkSPORT have emerged today that Salah is wanted by Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal amid the fact that he is yet to sign a new contract with Liverpool.
TalkSPORT’s Saudi Football Correspondent said on Monday: “2025 is the target. Al Hilal is the club. The Saudi football federation will be taking FIFA up on this so-called exceptional window ahead of the Club World Cup.
“So they could in theory try and sign Salah between June 1 and 10, which means they’re looking at him for not just the Saudi Pro League but for the Club World Cup.”
He would become the latest in an increasing line of ex-Liverpool players to make a move to Saudi Arabia following in the footsteps of Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino and Steven Gerrard who is a manager at Saudi club Al-Ettifaq.
Mo Salah is yet to sign a new contract at Liverpool
The Egyptian has been subject to much transfer talk amid the fact that he is yet to sign a new deal with the Reds after spending seven years at Anfield.
Salah was previously touted by Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad in 2023 who sent Liverpool a hefty £150m bid for the winger, although the club rejected it at the time.
Liverpool had expected more bids to come in over the summer, however nothing came through and they are now tasked with trying to keep Salah at Anfield beyond this season.
The Reds could lose ‘key trio’ of players
It isn’t only Mo Salah whose contract is due to expire in the near future as Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold’s deals are both set to end in June.
The latter has been subject to transfer interest from Real Madrid who want to bring him to Spain to link up with England teammate Jude Bellingham.
Van Dijk is also in contract talks with Liverpool, but hasn’t been as widely rumoured to be leaving. However, many will agree that Arne Slot won’t want to lose any of the key trio for Liverpool.
