“I Don’t Get It…” Chris Sutton Questions Why Player Has Chosen Chelsea Over Liverpool

Ex-Chelsea striker Chris Sutton has questioned Moises Caicedo’s decision to join the Blues instead of Liverpool.

The pundit claims that the midfielder would have had a better chance of winning trophies if he had moved to Anfield:

“I don’t know. I don’t get it. It must be because of the manager. It must be because of the manager, Pochettino. If you look at Liverpool and where they are at this moment in time and you compare them to Chelsea, I think Liverpool are closer to the title than Chelsea are.”

There are a few theories about why Caicedo decided to make the switch to Stamford Bridge. One suggestion is that the Ecuadorian international was just keeping the promise he made when he agreed personal terms with Chelsea a few months ago.

It has also been claimed that the player’s agent used Liverpool, stringing them along in the belief that Caicedo was interested, with the hope being that it would force Chelsea into upping their bid to a level that Brighton would accept.

Liverpool have been made to look foolish

Whatever the reason that led Caicedo to snub the Reds, it has left the club in a very difficult situation with just a couple of weeks left to go before the transfer window closes.

Jurgen Klopp’s side need to be quick in order to add the depth which is badly needed in midfield.

SIX alternatives to Caicedo are being considered

Reports claim that Liverpool have a six-player shortlist of options, having lost out on Caicedo and (most likely) Southampton’s Romeo Lavia.

It is believed that Fulham’s Joao Palhinha and Crystal Palace’s Cheick Doucoure would be the top options but, if they prove to be too expensive, they may also look at Fiorentina’s Sofyan Ambrabat, Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips, Nice’s Khephren Thuram and Fluminense’s Andre.
