“I Think He’d Pick Liverpool” – Glen Johnson Backs England Ace To Snub Chelsea In Favour Of Anfield Move – EXCLUSIVE

Glen Johnson believes Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers should “pick Liverpool” if he has a choice between which teams he signs for this summer.

Both the Reds and Chelsea are believed to be keeping tabs on the England international ahead of the summer transfer window. Speaking exclusively to Walk On (courtesy of Coin Poker), Johnson said Arne Slot’s side would be a better fit for the player:

“Right now, probably Liverpool [is the best option], just with that work rate, the speed, the intensity… I think, obviously, he would suit both teams, but to do that at Liverpool is easier at the moment.”

“Liverpool are in a much better position, structurally, than Chelsea are, but I think he would suit both, to be honest. You know, he’s one of the players that works hard, high intensity, big pressure, so yeah, I think if he had the choice, I think he’d pick Liverpool.”

Any move for Rogers may hinge on Villa’s final league position

At the moment, the 22-year-old’s current team are said to be reluctant to let him leave but, if they don’t qualify for the Champions League, they may have some decisions to make in terms of balancing the books.

With three games remaining, Unai Emery’s side are currently three points adrift of the top 5. Ironically, Chelsea are the ones who sit in the final Champions League spot at the moment.

Where would he fit into Liverpool’s starting lineup?

Rogers can play right across the front three, and he can also be deployed as a no.10, so you wouldn’t think the Reds would have much trouble finding him a position.

The forward could potentially provide competition for Dominik Szoboszlai, especially considering his work rate. As Rogers has scored 14 goals and provided 13 assists this season, he would pose more of a goal threat than the Hungarian as well.
