Liverpool have identified several “young” centre-halves to replace Jarell Quansah, according to journalist Graeme Bailey.
Speaking to TBRFootball, Bailey said that the Reds have been keeping tabs on at least three players for quite some time:
“In terms of the defender, they want a young centre-back, we know they like [Nathan] Zeze, the young French defender at Nantes.”
“Liverpool also like [Cristhian] Mosquera at Valencia and the Ecuadorian defender [Joel] Ordonez at Club Brugge.”
One of Liverpool’s targets could join Arsenal
It is believed that Mosquera has already given the green light to a switch to the Emirates, so you would say that a bid from the Reds for the Spaniard is the least likely at this stage. Reports suggest that the Gunners will to make an offer in the region of £16m for the defender.
Both Zeze and Ordonez have been the subject of interest from several other Premier League teams as well, but Liverpool are not expected to face the same level of competition if they do choose to sign one of those two players ahead of Mosquera.
Is Marc Guehi still under consideration?
While Bailey does not mention the Crystal Palace player in his remarks, it is thought that the England international remains a top target for Arne Slot’s side.
There are, however, doubts about whether Guehi will be made available for a reasonable price. An offer of around £30m could be tabled but the Eagles may demand more, even though the player only has a year left on his contract at Selhurst Park.
If the Reds decide that the centre-back is too expensive, they may consider going after the likes of Zeze or Ordonez instead.
