‘Do We Actually Need Him?’ ‘That Valuation Is Laughable’ Fans React As Liverpool Join £57M Transfer Battle

Liverpool are among the clubs keeping tabs on Eintracht Frankfurt left-back Nathaniel Brown, according to reports in the German media.

Bild claim that the Reds have joined Manchester City, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Barcelona in watching the German international.

Frankfurt have slapped a valuation of around €65m (£57m) on Brown, and supporters on X can’t see the Merseysiders paying that much for another fullback:

A replacement for Robertson could be required

Andy Robertson may well leave Anfield at the end of the season when his contract expires. He was close to leaving for Tottenham in January, but his move was blocked after Liverpool failed in their attempts to recall Kostas Tsimikas from his loan at Roma.

Milos Kerkez is very much first choice on the left-hand side of defence, but Robertson would still need to be replaced if the Scotland captain departs.

Liverpool need to save their cash for other positions

Frankfurt are notoriously tough negotiators. They held out for their valuation of Hugo Ekitike, so any fans expecting them to back down on their price for Brown will be left disappointed.

It’s a very high sum for a left-back, and with the Reds likely to prioritise moves for one or two wingers this summer, you can’t see them splashing out nearly £60m on a fullback.
