“It’s Great” – Serie A Star Admits He’s Flattered That Liverpool Are Scouting Him Despite Being A Chelsea Fan

Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu says he is flattered that the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Barcelona are keeping an eye on him.

The Danish Under 21 international has previously revealed that he is a Chelsea supporter and, while he confirmed his allegiance again in a recent interview with Bold.dk, the defender says he’s delighted that other high-profile teams are interested:

“It’s great to see that some of the biggest clubs in the world are looking at me, but it’s just motivation for me.”

Dorgu has broken into Lecce’s first team this season, having made his senior debut in the Coppa Italia against Como back in August.

The 19-year-old has gone on to make 14 appearances, providing one assist, helping his club to 14th in the Serie A table.

Lecce are trying to tie down Dorgu to a new contract

While the defender’s current deal expires in 2027, he is reportedly earning just £2,000 a week and there have been reports in the Italian media that Lecce want to give him a pay rise to cool speculation about a potential move away from the club.

There is also a chance that rumours about Liverpool’s interest may be used by Dorgu’s agents in negotiations to get him a better salary.

Liverpool will be on the lookout for a new left-back

With Andy Robertson currently on the treatment table with a dislocated shoulder, it has prompted debate about who could replace the Scotland captain in the long-term.

Kostas Tsimikas is a similar age to Robertson so he won’t be the fullback’s successor in the position. A younger player will need to be brought in at some point.

In recent days, there have been claims that the Reds may target Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies, but it is believed that the Canadian may well join Real Madrid instead. Dorgu could just be one of a number of names on a long list of options being considered.
