Liverpool Join 4 Other Premier League Clubs In Pursuing Twin Brother Of Arsenal Star

Liverpool are keeping tabs on Feyenoord midfielder Quinten Timber, according to 90min.com.

The 22-year-old is the twin brother of Arsenal defender Jurrien, but he has performed extremely well in his own right, having helped Feyenoord win the Eredivisie title back in May.

Timber made 31 appearances in all competitions for the Dutch club last season, after making the move to De Kuip from FC Utrecht in the summer of 2022.

The midfielder has continued to impress at the start of this campaign, starting all 7 of Feyenoord’s league games so far, scoring 1 goal and providing 3 assists.

A number of other Premier League clubs are watching Timber

In addition to the Reds, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham and his brother’s club Arsenal have been scouting Timber in recent weeks.

90min.com claim that all five teams have been impressed with the Netherlands Under 21 international’s performances, in addition to other clubs on the continent, such as Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Monaco and Serie A champions Napoli.

Do Liverpool need a player like Timber?

The Dutchman is very capable of playing in a number of different midfield roles, having been deployed by Feyenoord boss Arne Slot as a holding midfielder, a No.8 and a No.10 during his time in Rotterdam.

In some ways, Timber could be compared to former Liverpool star Georginio Wijnaldum, although the latter did have a much stronger goal record.

If manager Jurgen Klopp does go back into the transfer market for a midfielder in January or next summer, you would have to think that he would target a specialist defensive midfielder, rather than another utility player like Timber.

The Merseyside club still haven’t really replaced Fabinho, who left to join Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad for £40m in the summer.
