Liverpool hold the most interest in signing Wolves fullback Rayan Ait-Nouri, according to Molineux News.
The website claims an inside source has told them that the Reds have the Algerian international “very high” on their list of transfer targets.
However, they also believe that there is “major interest” in Ait-Nouri from Chelsea which could complicate any negotiations in a future transfer window.
Both teams are seeking a new regular starter at left-back, and it could well come down to who is willing to pay Wolves’ asking price.
How much could Ait-Nouri cost?
Back in the summer, when Liverpool were first linked with the 23-year-old, it was reported that the defender could cost around £40m. That would be a reasonable figure for the Merseysiders who may need to replace Andy Robertson sooner rather than later.
The Scotland captain has struggled to find his form this season, and he has been benched by head coach Arne Slot for the last two fixtures against Brighton and Bayer Leverkusen, with Kostas Tsimikas taking his place in the starting lineup.
Are Liverpool looking at any other left-backs?
Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez is another player who has been linked with a switch to Anfield in recent weeks, while Fulham’s Antonee Robinson is a name that has also been mentioned in the past.
Ait-Nouri is, however, the target that many believe the Reds will pursue. There are fans who do have misgivings about signing the Algerian. He isn’t the best defensively, having struggled against Noni Madueke in Wolves’ 6-2 defeat to Chelsea back in August.
He has, though, impressed when he has come up against Liverpool previously, having managed to shackle Mo Salah. It is definitely a transfer to keep a close eye on over the coming months.
