Real Madrid are demanding more than €100m (£86.7m) for Liverpool transfer target Rodrygo, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano emphasised that the Brazilian has not decided whether he wants to leave the Bernabeu but Real will not stand in his way if they receive a high enough offer this summer:
“When you see reports of 80 million euros, from what I’m hearing, Real Madrid want way more than this. Real Madrid will probably start over 100 million euros, then this price could be reduced. But for sure they will start for something more than €100 million euros so Real Madrid are opening the doors to the exit to Rodrygo, but [they] will still [want] an important proposal.”
“At the same time, Rodrygo has to decide on one side, as I mentioned, the opportunity to go abroad and to have another club – another chance to be a star elsewhere. On the other side, Rodrygo is still in love with Real Madrid.”
Romano believes Rodrygo is reluctant to leave Real but his future is expected become clearer over the coming days when further talks with the Spanish club are held:
“For Rodrygo, it is not easy to take this decision. Rodrygo loves the club. Rodrygo loves Real Madrid. Rodrygo feels he can still give a lot to the club, so it’s a complicated moment where he has to make a big decision. There is interest from England – Premier League interest in Rodrygo – and not only [from there] for sure, Rodrygo has many top clubs interested.”
“I don’t want to come here and mention all of them because guys. If Rodrygo decides to leave, there will be a lot of movements around him for sure, from Premier League for sure and not only. So [the] Rodrygo case will continue in the next days – more rounds of talks with Real Madrid. We’re going to see what happens.”
Liverpool have been linked with the winger
Reports in both the Spanish and English press have suggested that the Reds have held preliminary talks with the 24-year-old’s representatives.
As Romano points out, though, there will be other suitors, with Arsenal thought to be among the other contenders.
Rodrygo could be targeted to replace Diaz
Luis Diaz is keen on leaving Anfield this summer and Bayern Munich are expected to make a second offer for the Colombian international after their first bid worth €67.5m was turned down.
It is believed that the German champions will have to get closer to €100m for a deal to be agreed. If Diaz does depart, you can see the money being used for Rodrygo.
