Premier League Rival Enter “Talks” To Sign £78M Winger But They Are “Waiting To See” What Liverpool Do

Tottenham have begun “talks” with Liverpool transfer target Rodrygo, according to journalist Ramon Alvarez de Mon.

Writing on his X account, the Spanish journalist said that, while Spurs have made a move for the Brazilian international, they are still wary about interest from the Reds:

“Tottenham are in talks for Rodrygo and are waiting to see if Liverpool makes a move. Nothing has been decided on the player’s part, and he could stay at Real Madrid.”

As Alvarez de Mon mentions, Rodrygo still has to make up his mind whether he wants to leave the Bernabeu.

Another North London club could pose the biggest threat

While it appears Tottenham have entered strongly into the race to sign Rodrygo, many feel that Arsenal will present more of a danger to the Reds’ chances of securing the winger’s signature.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with the 24-year-old over the past few months, although it is felt that a high-profile departure would be required for them to finance a bid.

Rodrygo’s asking price is expected to be at least €90m (£78m), although Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Real could still demand in excess of €100m (£87m).

Isak is the priority for Liverpool

While Arne Slot’s side appear to be still keen on Rodrygo, any approach will have to wait until the club make a move for Newcastle’s Alexander Isak.

There are suggestions that the Swedish international has agreed a five-year contract to make the move to Anfield, although that hasn’t been backed up by reliable sources.

An approach from the Reds could well be made as soon as Luis Diaz’s €75m move to Bayern Munich is completed. The Colombian is set to undergo a medical tomorrow (Tuesday 29th July).

In other news, Liverpool have identified their dream target to replace Diaz but there’s an issue
