Liverpool are “following” Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Reports started to emerge last week that both the Reds and Chelsea were tracking the 19-year-old and Romano has confirmed that the Merseyside club are fans of the player:
“I’m told that Liverpool are following the player because he was one of the best talents in the Premier League. Because of that, it’s normal to follow him. But, at the moment, there are not concrete negotiations with Southampton and they have not been approached.”
After being relegated during his first season with Southampton, not many supporters on Twitter are convinced that Lavia has the quality to play for Liverpool:

Liverpool will have competition for Lavia’s signature
If the Reds do decide to go after the Belgian international this summer, they will likely have to battle other clubs to secure his services.
In addition to Chelsea, Arsenal have also been mentioned as suitors for the former Manchester City player, who moved from the Etihad to the south coast for £14m last year.
Lavia is someone with a lot of potential but there is a feeling that he may not be ready to step up and perform at the highest level straight away.
That is likely why Liverpool haven’t firmed up their interest yet. Instead. it appears they are focusing their efforts on the likes of Nice’s Khephren Thuram and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Manu Kone who are slightly older and have more experience in top flight football.
