‘Just Pay The £50M’ ‘Overpriced’ Fans Debate Whether Liverpool Should Return With Second Offer For Teenager

Liverpool are expected to make a second bid for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia, according to the Daily Mail.

It was revealed on Tuesday that the Reds had submitted an offer totalling £37m for the Belgian teenager but the proposal was rejected out of hand.

With the Saints sticking to their £50m asking price, some fans on Twitter want Jurgen Klopp’s side to pay what’s being asked, while others feel the 19-year-old is not worth the money:

Liverpool seem determined to sign Lavia

The Reds remain locked in negotiations with Southampton, despite having their first offer knocked back for the midfielder.

It will, though, be interesting to see how far they are prepared to go to secure Lavia’s services. £50m is a lot for someone who has just a year’s worth of experience in senior football.

There will be competition for the player’s signature

The Mail claim that Chelsea “want to sign” Lavia as well, and it is believed that the Blues could well table a bid of their own in the coming days.

It does, however, appear that Liverpool have the edge over their rivals. Personal terms are thought to have been agreed with the Belgian, while it was also reported earlier his month that Lavia has already “talked to Jurgen Klopp” and “wants to play” for the Merseyside club.
