REPORT: Liverpool ‘Very Close’ To Signing THIRD Midfielder After Szoboszlai

Liverpool are “very close to reaching” an agreement with Bayern Munich for the signing of Ryan Gravenberch, according to Fichajes.net.

The Spanish rumour mongers claim that the Reds are in “very advanced negotiations” to snap up the Netherlands international who was one of the “big goals” for manager Jurgen Klopp during the summer transfer window.

It was reported back in April that the Merseyside club had held talks with Gravenberch’s father, as they considered making an offer for the midfielder.

Fichajes report that has now led to Liverpool making a formal approach for the 21-year-old. Whether that turns out to be true, we shall have to wait and find out from more reliable sources.

Gravenberch is unsettled at Bayern

After joining the Bundesliga champions from Ajax last year, the Dutchman had a disappointing first season at the Allianz Arena, making just three league starts.

Gravenberch has since spoken out to say that he won’t tolerate another campaign sitting on the sidelines, and he is keen to play on a regular basis:

“I expected to play more minutes than I did. I thought I would get some more chances. It’s about just wanting to play, that’s the most important thing at my age.”

“I hope this can happen at Bayern Munich, otherwise we’ll just have to look further. I told everyone that I don’t want another year like that. Of course, you can’t always be in the starting XI, but you can still play regularly, you can get a lot of minutes.”

Whether Thomas Tuchel has failed to give Gravenberch assurances about his game time, it is not known but, if Bayern are prepared to sell him, it would suggest he is not part of the manager’s first-team plans.

Premier Leagues teams, other than Liverpool, have been pursuing the player

Both Arsenal and Manchester United have been linked with Gravenberch in recent weeks but, it must be said, that neither team are likely to make offers having secured deals for Declan Rice and Mason Mount respectively.

It may, therefore, clear the way for Jurgen Klopp’s side to seal a move for Gravenberch, having already wrapped up moves for both Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
