Trent Alexander-Arnold is in talks with Liverpool over a new contract, but reports have emerged that the talks have hit a stalemate.
The defender had previously generated interest from Real Madrid who would like to sign him as a free agent next summer, but Caught Offside say that Bayern Munich could also be a destination for Alexander-Arnold.
Rumours have emerged that the defender is considering Real Madrid and Bayern Munich although he would like to remain at Anfield.
The saga with Alexnader-Arnold has rumbled on all summer with strong links over a move to Real Madrid coming earlier in August before he confirmed he would stay at Anfield this season.
However, if no deal with Liverpool can be completed, the England international may decide to sign elsewhere as a free agent which would be a disaster for the Reds as they wouldn’t make any money.
Alexander-Arnold’s contract situation at Liverpool
In 2021, Trent signed a four-year, £28.3m contract at Anfield securing his services until June 2025. But with the expiry date less than a year away, the Reds will want to strike a deal to keep him.
It has not yet been revealed what the halted negotiations are over, but the first guess has to be his wage demands which Liverpool may be reluctant to pay.
However, Trent has been a star for the Reds making over 300 appearances, scoring 19 goals with 81 assists.
Trent’s visible frustration when getting substituted by Arne Slot
The full-back was subbed off during Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Brentford this past weekend after 72 minutes which visibly irritated the defender.
The Reds were already 2-0 up at the time and he was taken off as a precautionary measure to ensure that he stays fit, which indicates that he is still very clearly in Arne Slot’s plans.
Alexander-Arnold will stay at Anfield this season, but the intrigue over his future puts some pressure on Liverpool to strike a new contract deal with the 25-year-old.
