Liverpool ‘Front Of The Queue’ To Sign 18 Year Old Who Has Been Described As “Really Special” By Danny Murphy

Liverpool have been labelled as favourites in the transfer battle for promising Southampton winger Tyler Dibling.

The 18-year-old caught the eye when he faced the Reds in the Premier League back in November and the Daily Mail report that Arne Slot’s team are “front of the queue” to sign him if they decide to step up their interest in the player.

Dibling has spent most of his early career with the Saints, although he did briefly join Chelsea in 2022 before returning to the South Coast due to being homesick.

It would be hoped that he is now mature enough to move North if the Reds do decide to make an approach for him over the coming weeks and months.

Dibling has plenty of suitors

The Daily Mail claim that Newcastle are also in the “hunt” for the teenager’s signature, while other sources have mentioned that Manchester United have scouted him several times.

It is up for debate whether Dibling is ready to make the step up to a ‘Big Six’ club. He has stood out despite Southampton’s struggles but he has still only scored 2 goals and provided 0 assists in 18 league appearances so far this season.

A former Liverpool player is a big fan

Speaking after his display against Brighton just over a month ago, ex-Reds midfielder Danny Murphy was full of praise for Dibling:

“It’s difficult to get too over the top with these young players because he’s just come on the scene but he’s going to be something really special”.

“They [Southampton] are giving him the freedom to play, giving him time to learn the game and he’s just enjoying himself.”

There is no indication that Liverpool are set to make a formal bid for Dibling at this stage but it is one to keep an eye on.
