“Particularly Active” – Sky Reporter Confirms Liverpool, City, Chelsea And Arsenal All Want £50M Rated Forward

Liverpool are one of four Premier League teams interested in signing Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres, according to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.

Manchester United have also been linked with the Swedish international due to Ruben Amorim but Plettenberg says a move elsewhere in England is much more likely:

“United is currently not in the race for Viktor Gyokeres. It’s a matter of waiting to see what would happen if Ruben Amorim becomes the new coach.”

“In England, the four clubs mentioned are particularly active for him: Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea. He is allowed to leave Sporting next summer for 60-70 million euros, as revealed in our show ‘Transfer Update’. A transfer in the summer is planned.”

Gyokeres does have a release clause

The 26-year-old can be signed if a team is willing to trigger his €100m (£83.5m) buyout fee but clubs were put off from paying that during the last transfer window.

Based on Plettenberg’s remarks, it seems Sporting will compromise on their asking price at the end of the season, with a fee of around €60m (£50m) potentially being enough.

Liverpool could be planning to replace Nunez

It’s fair to say that Darwin Nunez has not found his feet in English football. Despite being in his third season with the Reds, he has yet to show that he can be a regular goalscorer.

There was hope that new head coach Arne Slot could unlock his potential but 2 goals in 10 appearances suggests that the Dutchman has not found the key yet.

Gyokeres, in contrast, has been in outstanding form. This campaign alone, the Swede has hit the back of the net 16 times and provided 4 assists in just 15 matches. He scored 43 in all competitions during his first 12 months in Portugal.
