Fabrizio Romano Says Liverpool Are Confident Of Arsenal Transfer “Hijack”

Liverpool are now hoping to “hijack” Arsenal’s move for Salford City striker Will Wright, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Reds had originally begun negotiations to sign the 17-year-old from the English League Two side.

However, the Gunners entered talks at a pretty late stage, and after having an offer accepted, it is was widely believed that Wright would end up at the Emirates.

Two weeks have passed since the North London club reached an agreement for the player and it now appears he has made a U-turn on his destination.

Liverpool are looking to get the deal done quickly

To prevent Arsenal or any other team from making a last-ditch effort to sign the teenager, the Merseysiders are getting all of the necessary documents drawn up so they can tie him down to a contract.

The battle for Wright’s signature has been pretty fierce but the end appears to be in sight. It is expected that Arne Slot’s side will pay £200,000 plus add-ons.

What do fans need to know about Wright?

The youngster has been a regular scorer for Salford at youth level, and he was handed his senior debut against Wolves Under 21s in the EFL Trophy back in November last year.

Wright’s next appearance came during the 8-0 defeat to Manchester City back in January. He came on as a substitute in the final few minutes of the FA Cup tie.

The forward has gone on to play twice more for the first team, playing 55 minutes against Port Vale back in February before playing the final 12 minutes versus Bradford City at the beginning of March.

If and when he completes his move to Anfield, Wright is expected to join up with the club’s Under-21s.
