Liverpool Could Lose Out On Top Summer Target As Arsenal Table £39M Bid

Arsenal have offered €45m (£39m) for Liverpool target Willian Pacho, according to DAZN (via Bolavip).

Both Premier League clubs have been credited with an interest in the Eintracht Frankfurt centre-back but it appears the Gunners have made the first move for the player.

It was reported earlier this week that the Reds and their London rivals have kept tabs on Pacho, but Frankfurt could demand as much as €60m (£51m) for the Ecuadorian international’s services.

With the asking price having been set, DAZN claim that Arsenal are likely to fall short with their first proposal.

Why are Liverpool interested in Pacho?

The Reds are expected to go into the market this summer for a centre-half, with Joel Matip set to leave Anfield when his contract expires at the end of June.

Pacho does have plenty of qualities that make him an attractive transfer target. He is still only 22 years of age, while he has the physicality at 6ft 2 to handle English football.

There is also the added bonus that he is a left-sided centre-back, meaning he could provide cover for captain Virgil van Dijk.

Are the club considering alternative targets?

Liverpool have been linked with Sporting Lisbon duo Ousmane Diomande and Goncalo Inacio in recent weeks.

With their manager Ruben Amorim one of their favourites to replace Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield dugout, it does make sense that the pair would be on the club’s radar.

However, Pacho could well be a cheaper option. Diomande has an €80m (£69m) release clause in his contract, while Inacio recently renewed his deal with Sporting, increasing his buyout fee to €60m (£51m).

It has also been reported that a move for Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo will be considered. The defender is out of contract this summer and he could be available on a free transfer.
