Liverpool are interested in Eintracht Frankfurt duo Willian Pacho and Hugo Larsson, according to Bild journalist Christian Falk.
Writing in his column for the Daily Briefing Substack, Falk claims that the Reds are among the teams “following” both players.
Arsenal are believed to be keen on signing the pair as well, while the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid and Napoli are only looking at Pacho.
Larsson is a holding midfielder, and Pacho is a centre-back, and they are two positions that Liverpool are expected to reinforce during the summer transfer window.
Replacements for Thiago and Matip will be needed
At the moment, Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip are set to leave Anfield when their contracts expire at the end of the season. Following Jurgen Klopp’s announcement that he will be going too, it seems unlikely that the club will retain the services of those two players unless the German’s successor explicitly states that he wants them to stay.
It means that Liverpool’s recruitment department will be looking to replace them, and it appears Pacho and Larsson are on their radar.
Liverpool will have to pay a significant sum to sign the pair from Frankfurt
Falk reports that Pacho’s asking price is as high as €60m (£51m), which is almost seven times more than Frankfurt paid Royal Antwerp for the defender last year.
Larsson is expected to be even more expensive, with his valuation currently set at €80m (£68m). It means the Reds would have to shell out as much as £119m to secure their services. It’s a lot of money for two relatively unproven talents so we shall have to wait and see whether the club step up their interest at the end of the season.
